ADDITION OF A HUNDRED SINGLE DIGITS

   On 29 th June of 1999 Alberto Coto stablished a new Record Guinness at the Valle Real Commercial Centre by the addition of a hundred aleatories single digits in 19.23 seconds. The digits were selected with a informatic program.
In May 1999 on the live TV Show “Ver Para Creer” on Antena 3 Television, Alberto added 100 aleatories single digits in 21.90 seconds.
   The TV production workers of  “Ver Para Creer” created a computer program that made aleatory numbers. By the way no doubt about the numbers its was totally aleatories.
   Overcoming the stress associated with being on Television, he achieved the feat of adding 100 numbers with amazing speed.    Both the audience and the show´s hosts could scarcely believe what they were seeing. Adding 100 numbers in 20 seconds is an astonishing 5 NUMBERS PER SECOND!
   He is also a runner of Marathon and maybe some day …
   The previous Guinness Record  was in 32.57 seconds since 1977, by Rychard Frost, from UK.

MENTAL MULTIPLICATION OF TWO EIGHT DIGIT NUMBERS

   On 19 th December 2001 at the Los Fresnos Commercial Centre, in Gijón. He multiplied two eight digit numbers (47,650,683 x 49,541,525) in 56.5 seconds (2,360,687,503,111,575) for an audience of three hundred scholars.
   He had to correct the computer because the machine miscalculated 5 units in a number of 16 digits. Coto gave a result of  2,360,687,503,111,575 and the computer programme used (Microsoft Office) gave a result of 2,360,687,503,111,580.
   In December 2000 Alberto Coto beat the Mental Calculation Guinness Record by multiplying two eight-digit numbers in 61.9 seconds on the live TV Show  “Debat Obert” on Channel 9.
   In April 2000 He multiplied two eight digit numbers in 63 seconds at the “Casino Gran Madrid”, from Torrelodones - Madrid.
   The previous Record was in 93 seconds by Hari Prasad, from India.

BIOGRAPHY

   A biography of Alberto Coto, the Record Guinness of mental calculation.
   Alberto Coto Garcia is the fastest person in the world making mental calculations.
   He was born on Wednesday May 20^th of 1970 in a local city of Asturias named Lada de Langreo.  With only five years old, and a helping parents and brothers, he learned how to count and soon he left dazzling his family calculating points at the end of card matches. 
   At first, His university studies were guided to Economy crossing by the Management Faculty, as well graduating with a the degree in Job Sciences. 
   But soon, this great accountant directed his studies to the world of Mathematics, becoming an expert in Cryptology.
   Alberto’s skill to calculate comes from an innate base, according to psychologists who had been making studies about him, because he gets to add up more than five digits per second, being add the operation more innate for not be reflected the numbers properties like in other operations.
   In the middle nineties, Alberto discovers by coincidence that his ability could go farer than he imagined.  He saw a television contestant who was making a multiplication that himself could do faster.
   From that moment, he investigated and discovered that his ability exceed the professional mental calculators of the last two centuries, some of them studied by prestigious psychologists like Alfred Binet.
   During the last years, he’s been dedicated to improve his ability with some techniques, managing to have a large repertory, going to a lot of national and international television shows, dazzling with unique demonstrations that aren’t unnoticed for the spectators.
   These demonstrations have a double component:
The Pedagogic Facet: Going to a lot of schools, institutes, universities, where also left amazed all the people, explaining several techniques.
The Artistic Facet: he’s been taking his exhibitions to different kind of places like Conventions, Congresses, Fairs, Theatres, TV Shows, Casinos, Malls Centres, etc.
   An Alberto’s exhibition will always be remembered by anyone who assists.
   Alberto actually has two Guinness records, that where hand over to him in a Festival celebrated in Flensburg, Germany.
   Alberto is a lover of Nature and the mountains of his home town Asturias.
   He also adores sports.  Since a very early age he practiced cycling. 
   Actually, he practices athletics, and have been participated in four marathons, with a record of 2 hours, 58 minutes and 29 seconds.
   He totally agree with Plato opinion:  “mens sana in corpore sano”
   Besides Math, he also likes History, Philosophy, Biology, Sociology and Reading.
   About Music, he likes from Classic to Heavy Metal (his favourite group is Deep Purple).
   Even when he’s not superstitious, his favourite number is 9, because he was number 9 in school.  He also likes number 91 for being 7 and 13 the only two divisor numbers.
   If he has to choose a favourite mathematician, he will decide for the capacity of Leonard Euler and the geniality of Ramanujan, having a lot of affinity because both of them were very clever in calculus.
   Alberto Coto’s IQ is 156 in the Stanford-Binet Scale and, enough to say, an 99 percentil.
